Retail Service Providers
RSP's are the bridge between the customer and the service provider on our new broadband networks. NBN and their competitors provide the service physically to an address. the Customer is then required to subscribe to this service via Third party's.
This approach has some pro's and con's, smaller RSP's can exist on the same competitive playing field as larger RSP's since companies such as NBNco sell at wholesale to all of them. however it also means everyone has the same level of downtime for hardware issues and an extra level of difficulty in proving hardware faults to your RSP who then relays those onwards to the Wholesaler.

The marketing material for all RSP's largely looks the same but they do in fact offer wildly different services. we will do our best to list some of those core differences in a way that makes the choice between them easier. not being included on this list only means we haven't seen the RSP's services being utilised
Telstra: NBN
- WILL port your existing numbers to voice gateways if you have more than 4
- WILL port your existing numbers to VoIP lines across your NBN router AND the Telstra router if you have less than 4 (2 each device)
- WONT port your numbers to VoIP services you can directly register to private hardware
- WILL supply backup 4G dongles for your router if you're using their Router
Internode: NBN and Opticomm
- Will supply Voip lines that can be registered on private hardware
- Will port Existing Numbers to Voip
IInet: NBN and Opticomm
- Will supply Voip lines that can be registered on private hardware
- Will port Existing Numbers to Voip
Optus: NBN
