Internet Connection

moving somewhere new? here's some tips on how to get your internet connected smoothly

So you're moving or setting up a new internet service? First of all you'll need to arrange for the internet service. we can help you with that if you'd like.

but if you want to arrange things yourself here is some tips

Start Early

Start as early as possible, as soon as you have the authority to do so. NBN can sometime have issues with addresses. NBN's records are not always accurate and this can lead to LONG delays with the new connection. Starting as early as possible gives you time to find out if that's an issue so you can make alternative arrangements such as 4/5G routers as an interim.

Don't assume what you have still works

Have a site audit of the current cabling to make sure it's capable of doing what you need. Just having sockets on the wall can mean nothing if there is no cables behind them. A previous occupant may have removed the data cabinet and had all the cables cut too short to reuse. the new connection may have been made on an old non nbn service that had many connections.

Things can go missing

Have a new internet connection made on fibre to the node, fibre to the basement or fibre to the curb. You will probably need it connected through by someone like ourselves but it ensures you get a service where you want it straight away. If an old connection existed but wasn't labelled it's very hard to find even with the appropriate test hardware. Trying to find missing connections can take hours. we can also resolve any additional bridge tap faults before they can become an issue

Existing fibre to the curb, fibre to the premises, fixed wireless and HFC internet connections are generally easier to find but previous occupants tend to take the hardware with them when they shouldn't. issues like this get picked up sooner if you started the process as soon as you could.
