HFC is capable of better speeds than Fibre to the node. fibre to the basement and curb are roughly on par
HFC is routinely the most awkward NBN install, the stiff coaxial lead doesn't allow for easy positioning of the NTD. there is also a higher incidence of lighting damage on HFC connections. general reliability is however very good
